Interactive Audio & Game Development

Bring behaviour, sound and interaction into the same development process.

Unreal Engine prototypes, gameplay systems and interactive audio, with FMOD and Wwise integration and original sound design scoped around the experience.

WHO THIS IS FOR

What must become playable before the idea can progress?

Game teams and organisations developing prototypes, interactive experiences or responsive audio systems.

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

Mechanics, interaction and sound developed in the same loop.

Gameplay and technical audio can be considered by one multidisciplinary team. We connect the intended experience to the logic, events, parameters and sound assets it needs, rather than treating audio as a final layer.

01

Prototype the uncertain parts

Use an alpha or technical proof to learn about mechanics, integration and performance before extending the scope.

02

Design sound as behaviour

Define what sound responds to, when it changes and how it supports the user’s decisions.

03

Keep scope honest

A prototype, vertical slice and production release are different deliverables. We agree which one the engagement is for.

THE TECHNOLOGY NOW

Real-time engines make more possible—and make scope discipline essential.

Game engines and audio middleware support increasingly detailed real-time experiences. The practical challenge is making mechanics, assets and sound behave coherently within the target platform’s memory and performance constraints.

01

Unreal Engine development

Build and integrate the gameplay and environment systems required for an agreed prototype or project.

02

Middleware integration

Connect FMOD or Wwise events, parameters and routing to meaningful application state.

03

Original sound

Prepare sound design, music and Foley with variation and implementation in mind.

04

Technical budgeting

Agree voice counts, memory, streaming, update rates and profiling targets appropriate to the platform.

WHERE IT IS GOING

Responsive systems will need clearer creative rules and tighter budgets.

More responsive systems increase the importance of clear creative rules and technical budgets. We favour a controllable system that can be tested and tuned over complexity that adds little to the experience.

We plan for likely change without making your project depend on a prediction.
  1. 01

Sound systems that respond to state rather than simply replay a fixed timeline.

  2. 02

Reusable event structures and documented integration boundaries.

  3. 03

Profiling and validation considered during prototyping.

  4. 04

Cross-discipline review of how the experience feels and behaves.

CUSTOM VS OFF-THE-SHELF

Use the engine for common foundations; customise the experience people remember.

Engine features and established middleware are valuable foundations. Custom work is appropriate for the mechanics, behaviours and sound identity that distinguish the project.

Foundation

Engine and middleware features solve many common technical needs.

Project-specific systems connect them to the intended experience.

Sound

Asset libraries provide useful starting material under their licence terms.

Original Foley and sound design can establish a more specific identity.

Delivery

A template demonstrates a pattern but does not prove production readiness.

The scope defines the target build, acceptance criteria and validation required.

We will say when an existing product is the sensible answer. Custom work should earn its place through fit, control, integration or long-term value.

HOW WE HELP

Bring the uncertain parts to life in a defined playable build.

You can engage us for one focused capability or a joined-up delivery. We shape the work around the outcome, handover and level of support you need.

01

Playable prototypes

A defined alpha or interactive proof for review and further decisions.

02

Gameplay implementation

Systems and integration around the agreed mechanics and environment.

03

Interactive audio

Middleware events, routing, parameter behaviour and engine connections.

04

Sound and handover

Organised assets, implementation notes and agreed technical validation.

HOW WE WORK

Prototype the highest-risk mechanic first.

01

Define the experience

Agree the user, platform, mechanics and purpose of the build.

02

Prototype

Build the highest-uncertainty interaction first.

03

Integrate

Bring gameplay, assets and responsive sound together.

04

Review and iterate

Test the agreed target and identify the next development priorities.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Questions before we begin.

Can you build an alpha rather than a full game?

Yes. Senshi Tatakai is an example of a commissioned alpha scope. A prototype, vertical slice and production game require different plans and budgets.

Do you use FMOD and Wwise?

We offer middleware authoring and integration. The platform, licence requirements and engine support are reviewed for each brief.

Can sound design be included?

Yes. Music, Foley, sound design and technical implementation can be scoped together or as separate specialist work.

A CLEAR NEXT STEP

Discuss an interactive project.

Bring the current workflow, product or technical problem. We will help define the sensible route, what should stay off-the-shelf, where custom work earns its place and how to prove value before scaling.
