WHO THIS IS FOR

Does the mix translate beyond the studio?

Professional stereo and 5.1 surround mixdowns plus stereo mastering, stems and delivery preparation for music, sound design, film, games and commercial audio releases.

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

Separate the creative mix from the final release preparation.

We separate the purpose of mixing from the purpose of mastering. Mixing controls balance, space, movement, tone and narrative inside the production; mastering prepares the approved stereo mix for consistent release and translation. That clarity prevents processing from becoming a substitute for decisions and gives every format the attention it actually needs.

01

The mix has a hierarchy

Important elements remain readable because balance, perspective, dynamics and frequency are shaped around the listener's attention—not simply made louder or wider.

02

A defined monitoring capability

We have access to a professional Dynaudio AIR 5.1 monitoring system. Stereo and 5.1 surround work can be scoped against that capability; no Dolby Atmos monitoring or accreditation is claimed.

03

Mastering protects the approved mix

Stereo mastering addresses translation, sequencing, tonal consistency, dynamics and deliverables without trying to rebuild an unresolved production at the last stage.

THE TECHNOLOGY NOW

Every release meets more listening systems than ever.

A release may be heard through studio monitors, headphones, phones, cars, streaming normalisation, stereo speakers, surround systems and binaural renders. Modern delivery therefore needs clear monitoring, calibrated decisions and format-specific checks rather than one loud master assumed to work everywhere.

01

Stereo remains the reference for reach

A strong stereo mix establishes balance, tone, depth and compatibility for the broadest range of playback environments and downstream uses.

02

Surround expands perspective

Multichannel work can create environment, separation and movement, but dialogue, music, effects and low-frequency energy still need a disciplined hierarchy.

03

Dolby Atmos uses objects and metadata

Elements can be positioned and rendered across speaker layouts and headphones. The creative result depends on object choices, automation and translation checks—not only technical export.

04

Mastering is delivery-aware

Sample rate, bit depth, headroom, fades, sequencing, loudness and file verification are matched to the release route while preserving musical dynamics.

WHERE IT IS GOING

Stereo stays essential while spatial delivery becomes more common.

Spatial audio will continue to reach more consumer devices, while stereo remains essential. The practical future is not choosing one format forever; it is maintaining a clear creative centre and producing controlled derivatives whose differences are understood and checked.

We plan for likely change without making your project depend on a prediction.
  1. 01

More productions planned for stereo and spatial delivery from arrangement and sound-design stages.

  2. 02

Binaural monitoring and metadata becoming central to how immersive mixes reach headphone listeners.

  3. 03

Greater attention to loudness-normalised playback and preserving dynamics that survive platform processing.

  4. 04

Deliverable management becoming more rigorous as one project generates stereo, instrumental, stem and spatial versions.

CUSTOM VS OFF-THE-SHELF

Use automatic processing for a reference; use judgement for a release.

Automatic mastering and preset mix chains can create a useful reference or solve a familiar technical problem. A specialist mix or master becomes valuable when balance, emotion, translation, repair and format delivery require judgement that changes from one production to the next.

Mix decisions

A template applies familiar routing and processing regardless of arrangement, story or recording quality.

Balance, dynamics, tone, perspective and automation follow the material and the listener's attention.

Spatial delivery

An upmix or generic spread can create activity without establishing a meaningful immersive perspective.

Beds, objects, movement and binaural choices are authored around the production and checked across renders.

Stereo mastering

Automated processing can be fast and consistent but cannot discuss intent, revisions or the relationship between tracks.

A considered master protects the mix, improves translation and prepares verified deliverables for the actual release route.

We will say when an existing product is the sensible answer. Custom work should earn its place through fit, control, integration or long-term value.

HOW WE HELP

Protect the intention across stereo, 5.1 and agreed deliverables.

You can engage us for one focused capability or a joined-up delivery. We shape the work around the outcome, handover and level of support you need.

01

Stereo mixdowns

Detailed balance, editing, tone, dynamics, depth, automation and print management for music and commercial audio.

02

Surround mixing

Multichannel environments, routing, movement, low-frequency management and output checks for linear and interactive work.

03

Delivery planning

Agreed channel layout, loudness requirements, stems and file naming for the destination. Formats beyond our stereo and 5.1 monitoring capability are discussed separately before they enter the scope.

04

Stereo mastering

Final tonal and dynamic judgement, translation, sequencing, fades, loudness, metadata and verified release files.

HOW WE WORK

Fix the hierarchy, then prepare the formats.

01

Prepare and reference

Confirm format, deliverables, stems, session health, creative references and the approval route.

02

Build the mix

Establish hierarchy, tone, dynamics, perspective and movement before chasing final level.

03

Check translation

Review representative speakers, headphones, renders and downmixes, then make controlled revisions.

04

Master and deliver

Approve the mix, prepare the stereo master or spatial deliverables, verify files and document versions.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Questions before we begin.

Can this be a standalone engagement?

Yes. We agree the deliverables, acceptance criteria and handover for a focused engagement or combine it with other disciplines where useful.

What should we bring to the first call?

An outline of the goal, existing materials, important dates and any technical or commercial constraints. Confidential details can wait until suitable terms are agreed.

How is the project priced?

Fees depend on scope and delivery requirements. We provide a proposal before work starts, including responsibilities, assumptions, third-party costs and tax treatment.

A CLEAR NEXT STEP

Prepare a mix for release.

Bring the current workflow, product or technical problem. We will help define the sensible route, what should stay off-the-shelf, where custom work earns its place and how to prove value before scaling.
