Co-production on Kabaka Pyramid’s Help Me Jah as Gully Cat, plus Transmission DJ-mix production and curation for Walshy Fire.

This work was delivered by Bluesy—working as Gully Cat for Help Me Jah—the audio-production identity used by Beta Check Hub’s founder. It is presented as prior professional experience behind the new consultancy, not as a current endorsement by the artists.
This case study brings together audio work delivered for Walshy Fire and connected with the Major Lazer platform. Working as Gully Cat, Bluesy co-produced Help Me Jah with Walshy Fire and Jr Blender. The track appears on Kabaka Pyramid’s Accurate mixtape, presented by Walshy Fire from Major Lazer and published through Major Lazer’s platform. Separately, Bluesy’s Drum Edit featured in a Transmission mix and was distributed on a CD accompanying a Major Lazer album. Across several further Transmission mixes, Bluesy recorded and produced the DJ mixes, curated the music, shaped the running order and added sound effects.
A strong transmission-style mix needs to feel continuous rather than assembled. Track selection, recording, pacing, transitions, edits and sound effects all have to reinforce the artist’s identity while keeping the energy coherent from beginning to end.
Professional recording, editing and mix-production workflows supported original track production, DJ-mix assembly, transitions, edits and sound-effects delivery across the projects.
The Help Me Jah credit is identified at track level rather than implying production responsibility for the complete mixtape. The Transmission mixes were treated as complete listening experiences: music selection and ordering established the arc, while edits, transitions and sound effects joined the individual tracks into a recognisable programme.
Kabaka Pyramid’s public Bandcamp tracklist credits Help Me Jah to Gully Cat, Walshy Fire and Jr Blender and lists it as track two on the Accurate mixtape, released in June 2016. The public SoundCloud page places the mixtape on Major Lazer’s platform.
The work includes a publicly credited Kabaka Pyramid production, a run of completed Transmission DJ mixes and a Bluesy Drum Edit distributed with a Major Lazer album.
